Kijabe Adventures may organize private hikes, group hikes, corporate outdoor activities, family adventures and customized hiking experiences.

Private and group bookings may involve different arrangements for dates, transport, meeting points, group size, guides, park or trail charges and other operational requirements.

The specific arrangements communicated and accepted during the booking process will apply to that particular experience.

5. Safety, Fitness & Participant Responsibility

Hiking and outdoor activities involve physical exertion and changing environmental conditions. Participants should select activities that reasonably match their fitness, experience and personal circumstances.

  • Follow instructions provided by Kijabe Adventures guides.
  • Stay with the designated hiking group unless instructed otherwise.
  • Inform the guide before the hike about relevant limitations that could affect safe participation.
  • Do not deliberately take unnecessary risks or leave the designated route without permission.
  • Inform a guide promptly if you feel unwell, injured, excessively fatigued or unable to continue.

Our guides use their experience and available safety procedures to help manage foreseeable hiking risks, but participants remain responsible for cooperating with reasonable safety instructions.

6. Weather & Route Changes

Weather and trail conditions can change quickly in Kenya, particularly in mountainous, forested and escarpment areas.

Kijabe Adventures may modify a route, meeting arrangement, starting time, destination or activity when conditions create a safety or operational concern.

  • Hiking routes may be adjusted because of weather or trail conditions.
  • Activities may be postponed when conditions are considered unsuitable.
  • Alternative dates or locations may be proposed where practical.
  • Participants will be informed of significant changes whenever reasonably possible.

Important: A scheduled hiking route should not be treated as guaranteed when changing weather or safety conditions make another arrangement more appropriate.

7. Guide Instructions & Group Conduct

Guides are responsible for coordinating the group and providing reasonable direction during the hiking experience.

Participants are expected to respect guides, fellow hikers, local communities and other trail users.

  • Follow reasonable instructions given by the guide.
  • Avoid behavior that creates unnecessary danger for yourself or other participants.
  • Do not intentionally damage trails, vegetation, property or facilities.
  • Respect other hikers and local communities.
  • Do not engage in abusive, threatening or seriously disruptive behavior during an activity.

8. Environment & Conservation

Kijabe Adventures promotes responsible outdoor recreation and encourages participants to help protect Kenya's natural landscapes.

  • Carry waste out of hiking areas or dispose of it in designated facilities.
  • Avoid unnecessary disturbance of wildlife and vegetation.
  • Remain on established trails where required.
  • Respect conservation rules applicable to forests, parks, reserves and other protected areas.
  • Follow instructions from park authorities, forest officials, community scouts and other authorized personnel.

We encourage hikers to leave natural areas cleaner and healthier than they found them.

9. Outdoor Risks & Liability

Hiking is an outdoor activity and involves inherent risks. These may include uneven or slippery terrain, steep sections, falls, changing weather, fatigue, insects, wildlife, falling objects, traffic, remote locations and other environmental or activity-related hazards.

Participants acknowledge these inherent risks and agree to act responsibly and follow reasonable safety instructions.

Kijabe Adventures will take reasonable steps within its operational control to organize activities responsibly. However, no outdoor activity can be guaranteed to be free from all risks.

This section is intended to explain the nature of outdoor activity risks and should not be interpreted as excluding any responsibility or liability that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.

10. Photography & Media

Kijabe Adventures may take photographs or videos during hiking activities for legitimate business, documentation, promotional or social-media purposes.

Where a participant does not want their identifiable image used for promotional purposes, they may communicate this preference to the Kijabe Adventures team.

We aim to respect reasonable privacy requests while also recognizing that group activities may involve photography by participants and other hikers.

11. Personal Belongings

Participants are responsible for keeping their personal belongings secure during hiking activities.

Valuable items should not be brought on a hike unless reasonably necessary. Participants should use appropriate bags and secure personal items while moving along trails.

Any lost property found by the team should be reported as soon as possible so reasonable steps can be taken to identify its owner.

12. Changes to These Terms

Kijabe Adventures may update these Terms & Conditions when our services, booking procedures, payment arrangements, safety procedures or operational requirements change.

The latest version will be published on this page together with the date of the most recent update.

Participants should review the terms before making a new booking, particularly where significant changes have been communicated.
